Nigeria has secured qualification for the 2026 African Nations Championship scheduled to take place in the Democratic Republic of Congo in September after maintaining their unbeaten run at the Zone 3 qualifiers in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The Nigerian team sealed their place at the continental championship with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Benin Republic on Friday, July 17.
After losing the opening set 21-25, Nigeria responded strongly to claim the next three sets 25-21, 25-15, and 25-20, completing a remarkable comeback.
The victory ensured Nigeria remained unbeaten throughout the qualification tournament, underlining their impressive form ahead of the African Nations Championship.
Nigeria will now turn their attention to preparations for the continental competition in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they will aim to challenge for the title in September.
