UK-based Nigerian athlete Jordan Osanrenren Joel delivered a gold medal for Team Nigeria at the British International Taekwondo Open held in the United Kingdom.
Competing in the heavyweight (+87kg) category, Jordan produced an impressive performance to claim the top prize at the globally ranked competition.
The Nigerian fighter recorded three consecutive victories from the quarterfinal stage through to the final to emerge champion in his division, while also earning valuable world ranking points for Nigeria.
Jordan’s success contributed significantly to Team Nigeria’s overall performance at the tournament, as the country finished 10th overall among 142 senior teams that participated in the competition.
The achievement further underlines Nigeria’s growing presence in international taekwondo competitions, with Jordan continuing to establish himself as one of the country’s promising athletes on the global stage.
