Nigeria’s Flying Eagles suffered a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final Group B match at the WAFU B U20 Championship on Sunday in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
Burkina Faso secured victory in the final group-stage encounter at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium to finish the campaign on a high and book a place in the semi-finals.
Despite the loss, Nigeria also progressed to the last four after finishing among the top teams in Group B, ensuring qualification for the semi-finals alongside Burkina Faso.
The result confirmed a mouth-watering semi-final showdown between the Flying Eagles and tournament hosts Côte d’Ivoire, while Burkina Faso advanced to face the other semi-finalist.
Nigeria will now shift focus to the crucial knockout clash against the Young Elephants as they aim to secure a place in the final and continue their quest for the WAFU B U20 title.
