UEFA has officially placed on legal notice over the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project, signaling a potential legal dispute between football’s two most influential governing bodies.
According to UEFA, it is actively considering legal action and has formally instructed (FIFA) to preserve all documents, emails, electronic records, and other materials related to the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal.
UEFA warned that the destruction, deletion, or alteration of any relevant evidence could expose those responsible to serious legal sanctions should formal proceedings commence.
The European football governing body has also given FIFA five business days to acknowledge receipt of the legal notice, confirm that all relevant records have been preserved, and appoint an official responsible for ensuring compliance with the preservation order.
The latest development raises the prospect of a legal confrontation between UEFA and FIFA over the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise project, although FIFA has yet to issue a public response to the notice.
