WAFCON 2026: Cameroon edge Morocco, set up final clash with Malawi

Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses have reached the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after defeating hosts Morocco on penalties in a tense semi-final encounter.

The match ended goalless after 90 minutes and extra time, with neither side able to find the breakthrough despite a closely contested battle.

Cameroon eventually prevailed 4-1 in the penalty shootout to book their place in Sunday’s final.

The Indomitable Lionesses will face Malawi in the final after the Scorchers secured a 3-1 victory over Algeria in the first semi-final.

Temwa Chawinga and Tabitha Chawinga were among the goalscorers for Malawi as they continued their impressive run in the competition.

Cameroon will now look to complete their campaign with the WAFCON title when they take on Malawi in the final on Sunday.
