Former Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has been appointed as the new head coach of the Netherlands national team.
The Barcelona legend replaces Ronald Koeman, who was relieved of his duties following the Netherlands’ disappointing performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Xavi has signed a four-year contract with the Dutch Football Association and is expected to lead the Oranje through the 2030 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The appointment marks Xavi’s return to management after his departure from Barcelona, where he guided the Catalan giants to the La Liga title in the 2022/23 season.
The former Spain international will now face the task of rebuilding the Netherlands and challenging for major international honours ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
