The winner of the next season’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will receive a record ₦1 billion in prize money, in what is expected to be a major boost for club football in the country.

Under the new prize structure, the league champions will pocket ₦1 billion, while the runners-up will earn ₦500 million. The team that finishes third will receive ₦300 million.

The significant increase in prize money is aimed at enhancing competitiveness in the league, improving club finances, and rewarding excellence on the pitch.

The development is expected to motivate clubs to strengthen their squads and invest more in infrastructure and player welfare as they compete for the lucrative rewards.

The announcement marks one of the biggest financial incentives ever introduced in Nigerian domestic football and underscores efforts to further raise the profile of the NPFL ahead of the new season.
