Nigeria’s junior handball team booked their place at the IHF Men’s U20 World Championship after defeating Guinea 28-23 in the quarterfinals of the 2026 African U20 Men’s Handball Championship in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Wednesday.
The win confirmed Nigeria’s qualification for the global event in the U20 category. The Super Eagles of handball controlled large periods of the contest and held off a late push from Guinea to seal a five-goal victory.
The result marks another strong showing by the Nigerian side at the continental championship and ensures the country’s representation at the next IHF U20 World Championship.
