Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, suffered a narrow 70-67 defeat to China in their opening exhibition game played in Haikou.
The African champions matched the hosts throughout the closely contested encounter but ultimately fell just three points short at the final buzzer.
Despite the loss, D’Tigress delivered an encouraging performance as they continue preparations for their upcoming international assignments.
Rena Wakama’s side will have the opportunity to bounce back when they face China again in their second exhibition game on Saturday, August 9.
