WNBA side Dallas Wings have waived Nigeria’s D’Tigress forward Amy Okonkwo following the expiration of her training camp contract.
Okonkwo, who joined the team during the preseason, impressed with her performances in the exhibition games but failed to secure a place in the final roster ahead of the new WNBA season.
The Nigerian international averaged 8 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game across her two preseason appearances for the Wings.
Despite her release, Okonkwo’s displays during the training camp further highlighted her quality and experience, having previously starred for Nigeria’s women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, on several international stages.
The former African champion is expected to continue her professional career elsewhere as she seeks more playing opportunities ahead of upcoming international competitions with Nigeria.
