The National Sports Commission (NSC) has confirmed that Team Nigeria will commence preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games with a local training camp before embarking on an overseas camping programme in Scotland.

According to the commission, the athletes and officials will begin their local camping exercise in Nigeria next Tuesday as part of efforts to fine-tune preparations for the multi-sport event.

Following the initial phase of training in Nigeria, Team Nigeria will travel to Aberdeen, Scotland, for an intensive overseas camping programme aimed at ensuring the athletes are in peak condition ahead of the Games.

The NSC further disclosed that after concluding the camp in Aberdeen, the Nigerian contingent will make the short journey to Glasgow, where they will compete at the Commonwealth Games.

The overseas training camp is expected to provide Team Nigeria with the ideal environment to sharpen their skills and adapt to conditions before the start of the competition, as the country targets an impressive outing at the Games.
