Nigeria delivered a dominant 70-40 victory over Senegal in their final Group C match at the FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket on Sunday, securing second place in the group and a spot in the quarterfinals.
The 30-point blowout completed Nigeria’s group-stage campaign on a high note. The team advanced to the knockout round, which begins on Wednesday in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Nigeria had earlier beaten Tunisia and suffered a narrow overtime loss to Cameroon. The emphatic win over Senegal locked in their progression as group runners-up.
Senegal, who struggled throughout the group phase, finished at the bottom of Group C after successive defeats.
The quarterfinals will determine the path toward the final, scheduled for August 16.
