Ghana produced one of the biggest surprises of Matchday Two at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after holding England to a goalless draw in a hard-fought Group stage encounter.
The Black Stars were forced to defend for large periods of the match as the Three Lions dominated possession and created several scoring opportunities. However, Ghana’s resilient defensive display ensured they secured a valuable point against one of the tournament favourites.
The result boosts Ghana’s hopes of progressing to the knockout stages while frustrating England, who were expected to claim all three points.
In another Matchday Two fixture, DR Congo suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.
After a closely contested first half ended without a goal, Colombia eventually found the breakthrough in the 76th minute when Daniel Muñoz scored the decisive goal.
The victory handed the South Americans maximum points from the encounter, while DR Congo were left to rue missed opportunities as they continue their search for their first win of the tournament.
