French tactician Hervé Renard has been appointed as the new head coach of the Ivory Coast national football team, marking a return to the side he famously guided to Africa Cup of Nations glory.

Renard, one of Africa’s most successful coaches, takes charge of the Elephants once again after leading the West African nation to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations title. His return is expected to boost Ivory Coast’s ambitions as they prepare for upcoming international competitions.

The 56-year-old has enjoyed a distinguished coaching career across Africa, winning the AFCON title with both Zambia in 2012 and Ivory Coast in 2015, making him the first coach to lift the continental trophy with two different nations.

Ivory Coast will now look to Renard’s experience and winning pedigree as they aim to build on their recent successes and remain among the continent’s leading football nations.
