President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved Nigeria’s bid to host the 48th Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football alongside this year’s CAF Awards ceremony.
The announcement was made during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, following a meeting between President Tinubu and CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
Also present at the meeting were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Special Adviser to the CAF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to hold in October this year and will bring together key stakeholders in African football, including presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, representatives of the six zonal unions, and top football administrators across the continent.
The CAF Awards ceremony, regarded as one of the biggest events in African football, celebrates outstanding performers on the continent in a glamorous and high-profile atmosphere.
