Nigerian tennis star Oyinlomo Quadre produced a spirited comeback to secure a place in the Round of 16 of the women’s singles event at the W15 Rancho Santa Fe tournament in the United States.
Quadre recovered from a set down to defeat American opponent Sophie Suh 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-1 in a hard-fought encounter.
After dropping the opening set 4-6, the Nigerian showed great resilience by edging a tense second-set tie-break 7-1 to level the match. She then dominated the deciding set, cruising to a 6-1 victory to complete an impressive turnaround.
The win extends Quadre’s campaign at the ITF World Tennis Tour event, where she will now compete in the Round of 16 as she continues her pursuit of the title.
