Mirra Andreeva etched her name into tennis history after defeating Maja Chwalinska 6-3, 6-2 to claim the French Open women’s singles title, becoming the youngest Roland Garros champion since Monica Seles achieved the feat in 1992.

At just 19 years old, Andreeva produced a composed and dominant performance to secure her maiden Grand Slam title and the sixth trophy of her burgeoning career.

The victory further underlines the Russian teenager’s remarkable 2026 season.

Andreeva has now recorded 36 wins this year  the most by any player on the WTA Tour  and moves to the top of the Race to the WTA Finals standings.

Her triumph in Paris marks a significant milestone in women’s tennis, as she becomes the youngest French Open champion in 34 years, drawing comparisons with former world number one Monica Seles, who won the title as a teenager in 1992.

With her first Grand Slam crown now secured, Andreeva’s rapid rise continues to gather momentum, establishing her as one of the leading figures on the WTA Tour and a strong contender for more major honours this season.
