World football governing body FIFA has confirmed that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament’s history.

The initiative, inspired by title-winning traditions in major North American sports such as the NBA and NFL, will see 30 custom-designed rings presented to members of the victorious team alongside the iconic World Cup trophy and winners’ medals.

According to FIFA, the rings are intended to serve as a lasting symbol of the players’ achievement and commemorate their success on football’s biggest stage.

In addition to the rings awarded to the champions, FIFA also announced plans to release limited-edition versions for football fans worldwide, allowing supporters to own a unique piece of World Cup memorabilia.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the first edition of the tournament to feature the new championship ring tradition.
