American hurdler Masai Russell has broken Tobi Amusan’s world record in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Russell clocked a stunning 12.09 seconds to win the event at the Zurich Diamond League, lowering Amusan’s previous world record and setting a new global benchmark.
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, popularly known as “Tobi Express,” finished second in the race with a Season’s Best of 12.23 seconds.
Russell’s remarkable performance ends Amusan’s reign as the world-record holder in the event, a record the Nigerian had established with her historic 12.12-second run in 2022.
