With only a few days remaining before the start of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Team Nigeria is intensifying preparations ahead of the multi-sport event.

Nigeria is expected to compete in 10 sporting events, with athletes aiming to make a strong impact and continue the country’s proud tradition at the Commonwealth Games.

Among the events Team Nigeria will participate in are powerlifting, wheelchair basketball, judo, athletics, track cycling, boxing and swimming, while Nigerian athletes will also compete in other disciplines during the competition.

The first batch of athletes and officials has already departed for the Games Village, with the remaining contingent expected to arrive later in the week as final preparations continue.

Nigeria has historically enjoyed success at the Commonwealth Games, particularly in athletics, boxing and powerlifting, and hopes will once again be high for the nation’s representatives to deliver podium finishes in Glasgow.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games will bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth in what promises to be another memorable edition of the global sporting event.
