Argentina fought back from a goal down to defeat England 2-1 and book their place in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will face Spain on Sunday.

England looked on course for a place in the final after Anthony Gordon gave the Three Lions the lead early in the second half.

Jordan Pickford produced a series of outstanding saves to keep England ahead, but Argentina continued to press for an equaliser.

Their persistence paid off in the 84th minute when midfielder Enzo Fernandez found the back of the net to level the score and force a dramatic finish.

Substitute Lautaro Martinez then completed the comeback in stoppage time, scoring the decisive goal in the 92nd minute to seal a 2-1 victory for the defending champions.

The win sends Argentina into Sunday’s final, where they will take on Spain in a highly anticipated showdown for the 2026 FIFA World Cup title.
