Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru has officially become a free agent after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Turkish club Gençlerbirliği S.K.

The 29-year-old ended his stay at the club after Gençlerbirliği informed him they were unable to meet his wage demands for the new season due to financial constraints.

Despite the situation, both parties reached an amicable agreement, with the Turkish side agreeing to pay Onyekuru an agreed settlement for the remainder of his contract before finalising his departure.

The former Super Eagles attacker is now free to negotiate with interested clubs, with teams from Turkey and Saudi Arabia reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of a potential move.

Onyekuru, who has enjoyed spells with clubs in Belgium, Turkey, Greece, Saudi Arabia and France, is expected to decide on his next destination in the coming weeks.
