FIFA has officially unveiled Islana as the mascot for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 set to take place in Poland this September.
The European nation will host the 12th edition of the competition, where some of the world’s brightest young women’s football talents are expected to showcase their abilities on the global stage.
According to FIFA, Islana is inspired by the rusalki of Slavic mythology and is portrayed as a guardian of nature with a playful and uplifting spirit.
Raised in the forest and along the banks of a lake, the mascot is described as a curious and kind character who discovered the world through movement and play.
FIFA added that Islana developed qualities such as courage, balance, speed and skill while participating in games with other young spirits.
The unveiling of the mascot forms part of preparations for the tournament as Poland gets ready to welcome teams and fans from across the world for the prestigious youth competition.
