The Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Veron Omba Mosengo, is set to officially step down from his role on March 29, bringing an end to his tenure with the continental football governing body.

Mosengo, who is Swiss-born with roots in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has served CAF in various administrative capacities over the years.

His departure is understood to be in line with the organization’s statutory retirement age for executive members.

His exit will mark a significant administrative transition within CAF, as the body looks to maintain continuity in its leadership structure.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Samson Adamu, currently serving as CAF’s Director of Competitions, has emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Mosengo.

Adamu is widely regarded within CAF circles for his extensive experience in organizing continental tournaments and managing football operations.

An official announcement regarding the appointment of a new Secretary General is expected following CAF’s executive deliberations later this month.
