The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will convene an emergency meeting this weekend to address key administrative and competition-related matters.
According to an official update from the body’s headquarters in Cairo, the meeting is scheduled to take place on March 29 under the leadership of CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
Top on the agenda is the appointment of a replacement for outgoing Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba, whose future at the organization is set to be determined.
The position is considered one of the most influential within CAF’s administrative structure, making the decision a critical one for the continent’s football governance.
In addition, the committee is expected to deliberate on the outcome of the appeal committee’s decision regarding the final of the Africa Cup of Nations involving Morocco and Senegal.
The emergency session comes amid heightened attention on CAF’s leadership and its handling of key football matters across Africa, with decisions from the meeting likely to have significant implications for the organization moving forward.
