Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor have reportedly rejected a £18 million offer from Fulham for Nigeria international Chibuike Nwaiwu.
The Super Eagles centre-back has attracted interest from the Premier League side following his impressive performances since joining Trabzonspor during the winter transfer window.
Nwaiwu quickly established himself as a key figure in the Turkish side’s defence, becoming one of the club’s standout performers in the second half of the season.
The defender, who made his senior debut for the Nigeria national football team during the Unity Cup, also played a crucial role in Trabzonspor’s successful cup campaign, helping the team secure domestic silverware.
Despite Fulham’s substantial offer, Trabzonspor are understood to be unwilling to part with the highly-rated defender as they look to build on last season’s achievements.
With interest in the Nigerian continuing to grow, it remains to be seen whether Fulham will return with an improved bid in their bid to secure his services ahead of the new season.
