Plymouth Argyle forward Owen Oseni has described his invitation to the Nigerian senior national team, the Super Eagles, as a huge moment in his career ahead of the upcoming Unity Cup in London.

Oseni was among the 27 players invited by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle for the tournament as Nigeria intensifies preparations for the competition.

Reacting to his maiden invitation, the striker expressed excitement over the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the international level.

“I know I had an alright season, but to get called up for a country where there’s more than 240 million people and probably 50% want to play for their country was quite a big deal for me, so I was really buzzing,” Oseni said.

The forward also credited the national team coaches for monitoring his performances towards the end of the season.

“The coaches were watching me, obviously they picked up on the form I’d hit just towards the end of the season,” he added.

Nigeria will compete in the Unity Cup in London alongside other invited nations as Chelle continues to assess players ahead of future international assignments.
