Manchester City will honour legendary manager Pep Guardiola with a statue at the Etihad Stadium following the Spaniard’s official announcement of his departure from the club after a decade in charge.
The statue will be placed on the approach to the newly-named “Pep Guardiola Stand” at the Etihad Stadium as part of plans to immortalise the highly successful manager.
Guardiola confirmed on Friday that he will leave Manchester City, bringing an end to a remarkable 10-year spell that transformed the club into one of the most dominant sides in world football.
During his time at City, Guardiola guided the club to multiple domestic and international titles, including several Premier League crowns and the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph.
The decision to erect a statue underlines the immense impact Guardiola had on
Manchester City both on and off the pitch, with supporters expected to celebrate the legacy of one of the greatest managers in the club’s history.
