FIFA has officially approved the international switch of Arthur Okonkwo from England to Nigeria, paving the way for the goalkeeper to represent the Super Eagles.
The Wrexham FC shot-stopper, who previously featured for England at youth level, has now completed the necessary documentation to change his international allegiance.
Okonkwo’s approval means he is immediately eligible for selection by the Nigeria national football team ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been in impressive form at club level, and his addition is expected to bolster Nigeria’s goalkeeping options as the team continues its preparations for major competitions.
Nigeria’s technical crew will now have the opportunity to assess Okonkwo alongside other goalkeepers as competition for the number one spot intensifies.
The development comes as a boost for the Super Eagles, who are keen to strengthen key areas within the squad with talented players eligible to represent the country.
