Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has dissolved the board and coaching crew of Bayelsa United Football Club following the team’s poor performances.
The announcement was made ahead of the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday in Yenagoa.
Governor Diri expressed dissatisfaction with the club’s results and stated that the decision was necessary to reposition the Prosperity Boys for greater success.
According to the governor, an interim committee will be constituted to oversee the affairs of the club, with the mandate to restructure the team and ensure Bayelsa United secures a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.
The move signals the Bayelsa State Government’s determination to revive the fortunes of the club and restore its status among Nigeria’s top-flight teams.
