World football governing body FIFA has announced a record-breaking €13 billion in revenue from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, surpassing its initial projection of €9.5 billion.
A significant contributor to the increase was FIFA’s official ticket resale platform, which generated substantial income through a 15 percent commission charged to both buyers and sellers on every ticket transaction.
The record revenue marks another financial milestone for the expanded 48-team tournament, underlining the commercial success of the competition.
FIFA also confirmed that its member associations are expected to benefit from the increased earnings, with additional funding set to be distributed through the organisation’s development programmes, further supporting football growth across its global membership.
