The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has released the official timetable for the upcoming Commonwealth Games trials as preparations intensify ahead of Glasgow 2026.

The national athletics governing body confirmed the schedule in a circular, outlining event timings and competition structure for athletes aiming to secure qualification for Team Nigeria.

The AFN stressed that the trials remain compulsory for all athletes seeking to represent Nigeria at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, noting that only performances recorded at the event will be considered for final selection.

Officials reiterated the importance of strict compliance with the timetable, warning that absence or failure to participate in the trials could jeopardise athletes’ chances of making the national team.

The federation added that the trials will serve as a key benchmark for assessing current form and readiness as Nigeria builds its contingent for the multi-sport competition in Glasgow.

The event is expected to attract the country’s top track and field athletes as they compete for places in what is projected to be a highly competitive squad selection process.
