Moroccan giants AS FAR have officially lodged a complaint with the Confederation of African Football over the scheduled kick-off time for the first leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The club’s management has strongly opposed the decision to fix the match for 2:00 PM (Moroccan time), describing the timing as unsuitable for a fixture of such magnitude.
AS FAR are pushing for the game to be rescheduled to 5:00 PM or later in the evening, citing the need to ensure sporting fairness and optimal playing conditions.
The complaint also draws attention to earlier remarks made by CAF president Patrice Motsepe, who had pledged during his election campaign to phase out early afternoon matches across the continent.
AS FAR have questioned the rationale behind staging Africa’s premier club competition final at such an early hour on a Friday, arguing that it undermines both player performance and the overall spectacle of the game.
CAF are yet to issue an official response regarding the complaint as anticipation builds ahead of the highly anticipated final clash.
