Alex Iwobi is on the brink of making history for Nigeria as he prepares to earn his 100th international cap for the Super Eagles in Wednesday’s international friendly against Portugal.

The Fulham midfielder currently has 99 appearances for Nigeria and is expected to become only the fourth player in the country’s history to reach the century mark if he features in the encounter.

Iwobi will join an elite group of Nigerian football legends comprising former captain Joseph Yobo, ex-goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, and current Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, who have all achieved the remarkable milestone of 100 international appearances.

Since making his debut for the Super Eagles in 2015, Iwobi has established himself as a key figure in the national team setup, contributing important goals and assists across major tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 30-year-old’s anticipated landmark appearance against Portugal will further cement his place among Nigeria’s most dedicated and accomplished internationals, highlighting his consistency and longevity at the highest level of the game.
