The 14th African Games will take place in Cairo from 27 August to 10 September 2027, the African Union Sports Council has officially announced.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Council confirmed the dates for the continental multi-sport event, which is expected to bring together thousands of athletes from across Africa.
“The 14th African Games will be hosted in Cairo, Egypt, from 27 August to 10 September 2027,” the statement read.
The confirmation marks a significant milestone in preparations for the Games, which were originally scheduled for earlier years but faced delays.
Cairo will host the event for the first time in over two decades, having previously staged the Games in 1991 and 2007.
The 2027 edition is anticipated to feature a wide range of Olympic and non-Olympic sports, providing a major platform for African athletes to compete on home soil and prepare for future international competitions.
