Just days after discovering their opponents for the 2025 AfroBasket Championship, Nigeria’s D’Tigers have been drawn into Group C for the first phase of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

They will face Rwanda, Guinea, and Tunisia in the group stage.

The draw took place on Tuesday at the iconic ALHAZM in Doha, Qatar, the host nation for the 2027 tournament.

Nigeria, seeded in pot three before the draw, will aim to secure one of the top three spots in the group to progress to the second round. From there, five teams will ultimately qualify to represent Africa at the 2027 World Cup.

Elsewhere, Group A features Cameroon, South Sudan, Cape Verde, and Libya, while Group B includes Senegal, DR Congo, Madagascar, and Ivory Coast. Group D is made up of Mali, Angola, Uganda, and Egypt.
