Dominik Szoboszlai levelled the score before Alexis Mac Allister completed the comeback to hand the Reds a 2-1 victory.
Earlier, Barcelona produced one of the biggest results of the night after thrashing Feyenoord 5-1.
Raphinha scored twice for the Spanish giants, while Lamine Yamal, Karim Adeyemi and Gabriel Jesus also found the net.
Steijn scored Feyenoord’s only goal of the encounter.
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain were equally impressive, cruising to a commanding 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava.
Ferran Torres stole the show with a hat-trick, while Ousmane Dembélé scored twice and Fabián Ruiz completed the rout.
