The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has dismissed head coach Pape Thiaw and his entire technical crew with immediate effect following the country’s disappointing outing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The decision brings an abrupt end to Thiaw’s tenure as coach of the Lions of Teranga, with the federation opting for a fresh direction after the team’s failure to meet expectations at the global tournament.

Despite the World Cup setback, Thiaw enjoyed a notable spell in charge of Senegal, guiding the West African nation to the final of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The FSF is expected to begin the search for a new head coach as preparations commence for upcoming international competitions, including the next Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
