AFCON 2027: CAF names Ekong among legends for ceremony

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has included former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong among the draw assistants for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification draw.

Troost-Ekong will join a distinguished cast of African football greats, including Max-Alain Gradel, Essam El Hadary, and Trésor Mputu, for the ceremony.

CAF confirmed that the draw will take place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association in Cairo.

A total of 48 nations, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, will participate in the qualifiers.

The teams will be divided into 12 groups, with the top two sides from each group securing qualification for the tournament.

The AFCON 2027 finals are scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
