Nigeria’s senior women national team, the Super Falcons, will no longer embark on their planned training tour of the United Kingdom this month following the withdrawal of Jamaica from the proposed friendly arrangement.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had organised the tour to compensate for the team’s inactivity during the March FIFA international window.
However, the cancellation comes amid concerns over the availability of key players, as some senior and regular members of the squad were already expected to miss the trip due to club commitments.
Despite the setback, the NFF has reportedly begun making arrangements for another international friendly during the June FIFA window as preparations continue for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Head coach Justine Madugu had hoped to use the UK tour to evaluate new players, test fresh tactical options, and further strengthen his squad ahead of the continental competition.
