The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers will take place on May 19, 2026.
A total of 48 countries, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, will participate in the qualification race for the tournament tagged AFCON PAMOJA 2027.
According to the qualification format, the 48 teams will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each, with the top two sides from every group advancing to the competition.
CAF also confirmed the qualification match windows for the tournament.
The qualifiers will begin in September and October 2026, while another round of matches will be played in November 2026 before the final fixtures are scheduled for March 2027.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, marking the first time the East African nations will stage the prestigious continental competition together.
