Rwandan basketball giants APR BBC have withdrawn from the 2026 season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), organizers have confirmed.

According to the league, APR will no longer participate in the upcoming campaign and will be replaced before the start of the BAL Kalahari Conference group phase.

The conference phase is scheduled to tip off on March 27 in Pretoria, South Africa, with teams already preparing for the opening fixtures.

League organizers are expected to announce a replacement team in the coming days to fill the vacant slot left by the Rwandan club ahead of the start of the competition.

APR’s withdrawal represents a significant development for the tournament, as the Rwandan side has been one of the prominent teams representing the country in the Basketball Africa League, Africa’s premier club basketball competition.

Further details regarding the reasons behind the withdrawal and the identity of the replacement team are yet to be officially disclosed by the organizers.
