Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, bounced back in style to claim a hard-fought 75-69 victory over Rwanda in the ongoing 2027 FIBA World Cup African qualifiers.

The Nigerian side went into the encounter desperate to respond after suffering back-to-back defeats against Tunisia and Guinea earlier in the qualifying window. Rwanda started strongly and led 27-25 at halftime, capitalizing on turnovers and missed chances from D’Tigers.

However, Nigeria turned the tide after the break. A dominant third-quarter performance saw D’Tigers outscore Rwanda to take a 45-36 lead heading into the final stretch.

With momentum firmly behind them, Nigeria held their nerve in the last quarter to seal a deserved 75-69 win and return to the race for qualification.

The victory restores confidence in D’Tigers’ campaign as they look ahead to the next round of fixtures in their bid to secure a place at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
