Nigeria’s Flying Eagles made a winning start to their campaign at the WAFU B U20 Championship with an impressive 4-2 victory over arch-rivals Ghana in their opening fixture.
The Flying Eagles took an early lead in the sixth minute through Olayemi Ayinla before Oraro Lucky doubled Nigeria’s advantage on the half-hour mark.
Muiz Adeleke added the third goal in the 40th minute to give Nigeria a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break.
Ghana fought back in the second half with two goals to reduce the deficit, but Adeleke sealed the victory for Nigeria with his second goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.
The convincing win gives Nigeria a perfect start to the tournament and boosts their confidence ahead of their remaining group-stage fixtures.
