Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, began their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign in emphatic fashion with a commanding 5-0 away victory over Guinea.
The Nigerian side wasted no time in asserting their dominance as Harmony Chidi opened the scoring in the opening minute of the encounter.
Chidi doubled the lead in the 13th minute to put the Flamingos firmly in control early in the game.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added the third goal in the 37th minute before Chidi completed her hat-trick three minutes later to give Nigeria a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime.
The Flamingos continued their dominance after the break, with Mary Dunstan getting on the scoresheet in the 56th minute to complete the rout.
The comprehensive victory puts Nigeria in a strong position ahead of the second leg scheduled to take place in Nigeria on May 30.
