Manchester City and newly promoted Hull City have made impressive starts to the 2026/27 Premier League season after recording victories in their respective Matchweek 2 fixtures.
City continued their perfect start to the campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola’s side in the 16th minute before City extended their advantage after the break.
Rayan Cherki added two goals in the 53rd and 58th minutes, while Haaland completed his brace in the 83rd minute.
Palace’s only goal came through an own goal credited to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 55th minute.
The victory means Manchester City have collected six points from their opening two matches.
Meanwhile, Hull City also maintained their 100 per cent record following a 1-0 away win over fellow promoted side Coventry City.
Liam Millar scored the decisive goal in the 81st minute to hand Hull another victory and move them onto six points.
At Anfield, Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest in a dramatic encounter.
Forest took the lead through Dan Ndoye in the 23rd minute before Liverpool levelled after the break through Alexander Isak.
Morgan Gibbs-White restored Forest’s advantage from the penalty spot in the 69th minute, but Víctor Muñoz rescued a point for Liverpool with a late equaliser on his home debut.
Bournemouth were also denied victory after Everton scored in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw.
Alex Scott gave Bournemouth the lead in the 40th minute, but James Tarkowski struck in the 90th minute to earn Everton a valuable point.
Following Saturday’s completed fixtures, Manchester City and Hull City lead the Premier League standings with six points each, while Everton sit third with four points.
Several clubs, including Arsenal, Brighton, Brentford and Chelsea, are yet to complete their Matchweek 2 fixtures.
