Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is set for a return to the English top flight after helping Coventry City secure promotion to the Premier League
Coventry City confirmed their long-awaited return to the Premier League following a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
The result was enough to seal promotion for Frank Lampard’s side, marking their first appearance in the top flight in 25 years, having last featured at that level in 2001.
The achievement completes a remarkable rise for the club, who were competing in the fourth tier of English football just eight years ago.
Onyeka, who joined Coventry City on loan from Brentford FC in January, has been part of the squad during the decisive phase of the campaign.
The midfielder’s return to the Premier League also signals a significant boost for Nigeria’s Super Eagles contingent, as he prepares to compete once again at the highest level of English football next season.
