Super Eagles and Trabzonspor striker, Paul Onuachu, has embarked on a major community development project in his hometown of Amakohia, located in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.
The towering forward is funding the construction of a modern health centre valued at $450,000, aimed at improving access to quality medical care for residents of the community.
The initiative was launched during Onuachu’s recent visit to Nigeria for the international break.
According to the striker, the decision to invest in the project was driven by the lack of adequate healthcare facilities in his village.
He noted that the absence of a well-equipped hospital has long posed challenges for residents seeking medical attention, often forcing them to travel long distances for treatment.
The project has been widely praised by locals, who see it as a timely intervention that will significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the area. Once completed, the facility is expected to serve not only Amakohia but also neighboring communities.
Onuachu’s gesture adds to the growing list of footballers contributing to grassroots development in Nigeria, using their platforms to impact lives beyond the pitch.
