The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the appointment of Coach Akeem Ishola Busari as the new Head Coach of the U17 Girls National Team, Flamingos.

The decision follows a recommendation from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee, signaling a new chapter for the team.

Busari takes over from Coach Bankole Olowookere, who enjoyed a successful stint with the Flamingos, highlighted by guiding the team to a bronze medal finish at the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India.

Renowned for his vast experience and strong grasp of women’s football, Busari is expected to build on the team’s recent achievements.

His immediate assignment will be to lead the Flamingos in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, set to be hosted in Morocco.

The team is scheduled to face the winner of the preliminary tie between Niger Republic and Guinea, with the first leg billed to be played away in the third week of next month.

Busari currently serves as the Head Coach of Pacesetter Queens Football Club in Ibadan.
