International Friendly: Madugu invites Ajibade, Oshoala, Others for Senegal

Head Coach Justine Madugu has named a 23-player Super Falcons squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly matches against Senegal, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and veteran striker Asisat Oshoala leading the team.

The squad also sees the return of experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and forwards Francisca Ordega and Gift Monday,

while Belarus-based Blessing Nkor and Turkey-based midfielder Kafayat Shittu have been handed opportunities to stake their claim for a place in the national team.

Also included in the squad are home-based goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, England-based defender Rofiat Imuran, Israel-based defender Sikiratu Isah, defender Tosin Demehin, midfielders Halimatu Ayinde and Toni Payne, as well as forwards Folashade Ijamilusi and Joy Omewa.

The trio of Christy Ucheibe, Shukurat Oladipo and Omorinsola Babajide, who recently celebrated league title successes with their respective clubs, were also named in the squad.

The Super Falcons will host Senegal in two friendly matches at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne-Remo.

The first encounter is scheduled for June 5, while the second match will take place on June 8.

The friendlies form part of both teams’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be held in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.

Senegal will compete in Group A alongside Morocco, Algeria and Kenya, while 10-time African champions Nigeria have been drawn in Group C with Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi.

The tournament will also serve as the African qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the top four teams earning automatic qualification and the fifth-placed side advancing to an intercontinental playoff.
